Hog Butchering Workshop with Meredith Leigh
June 29 1-5p: Workshop 5-7p: Pork Potluck
Lazy B Farm is an educational farm and we are always striving to improve our offerings for our students, customers, and farm friends. I’m so excited to announce that we are adding a new workshop to our listings this year! We will have the privilege of learning from Meredith Leigh, award winning author, butcher, and farmer.
This workshop is hands-on. There will be 2 people to a half hog carcass. Meredith will walk us through all the parts of the hog, the cut choices, and how to actually make those cuts with a knife. Meredith will also share about other meat uses from the carcass that you can get only if you butcher yourself.
After we are finished with our workshop, we’ll all gather outside in the Celebration Area at the farm for a pork potluck. I’ll provide the pork and Meredith will provide the cooking tips for barbecuing pork. The students will provide the dishes to complete the meal!
This is going to be a wonderful, educational workshop!
Cost of the workshop: $250 which includes 4 hours of instruction, 1/4 of the meat from the hog, and the potluck afterwards
There is a class limit of 12 to ensure that each student gets individual instruction. I want you to leave feeling confident about your hog butchering skills!
