Activities:
My goal and desire for the Ladies’ Homestead Gathering is to provide a haven where we can share new ideas, celebrate victories, re-think perceived failures, and cultivate friendships with other women who are like-minded.
All women are welcome who have a dream, calling, or desire to homestead. It doesn’t matter if you’re single or married, in the planning phase or a veteran homesteader – each one has something to contribute or gain from coming together.
Because we have so little time together, I’m respectfully asking that no children attend these gatherings. If you have any questions, please contact me at Cyndi@thelazybfarm.com.

Canning Workshop
So you’ve grown lots of great vegetables and fruits during the summer months or you’ve bought in bulk from local farmers…how do you preserve all this for the winter months??
This hands-on workshop will teach you how preserve your food using a water bath canner and a pressure canner. We’ll discuss the proper way to handle food before it’s canned and how to ensure a long shelf life.
During the class we’ll can some jam using seasonal fruits and can some soup with meat in the pressure canner.
There’s an amazing feeling of self sufficiency when the pantry shelves are full of food that you’ve preserved yourself!

Breadmaking Workshop
Hmmmm, the smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the air is sure to make a house a home!
This workshop will take you through the steps of grinding wheat to kneading and baking artisan sourdough bread. Our guest baker will be Rob Sutherland, owner of Good Dirt. Rob will share his special techniques for making a chewy crisp crust surrounding a fluffy flavorful middle. I’ve tasted his freshly baked bread and trust me, you don’t want to miss this class!
We’ll play around with different specialty herbal butters to use on our bread once it emerges from the oven.
We will also discuss the best kind of equipment to use for making your own artisan bread at home.

Open Farm Day
Lazy B Farm is a homestead, our home. Therefore, we are careful not keep our gates to the farm open all the time. After all, we have a lot of work to do to keep up with all the farm chores!
We’ve had so many requests for “drop-by’s” and unless you’re here for a class or picking up meat, there really is no other time to “drop by.”
Until now!!
June 15th is our Open Farm Day – a day for you to drop by and see what all goes on here at the Lazy B Farm. We love our home and our farm and are excited to share what we’ve learned with you. If we can encourage you in your homesteading pursuits, or quell some of your curiosity about what happens behind our gates, then we welcome you to our Lazy B Farm Open Farm Day!
Because our parking is limited, we are taking reservations for this day. Please sign up for your visit to the Lazy B Farm. We look forward to seeing you!
