About….? About what? So interesting to contemplate! I guess I’m supposed to write something about who we are, what we are, how we are, and why we are.
Anyway, if this is your first time to be introduced to us, I suppose I should be courteous and answer those inquisitive curiosities otherwise you wouldn’t have come to the “about“!
I’ve been married for 27 years to my wonderful husband and together we have 6 children. I’ve homeschooled all of them. Our eldest is an RN in the ICU at a local hospital; our next child is a Sr. at UGA; the next is working after graduating with a 2 year degree in Business; our son is a Freshman at UGA; our next child is in 1oth grade and our youngest is in 7th grade. I love my family – a lot. I also love homesteading and we’ve been doing it for many, many years. We moved to GA in Dec. of ’02 and became official homesteaders, not that animals and land give credibility to a homesteader. But it sure helps – especially if you can keep the animals alive!
We’ve made lots of mistakes along our homesteading journey but our victories keep us motivated. Lazy B Farm in an educational homestead, passionate about helping others achieve their “homesteading” lifestyle no matter if they live in an apartment in the city or on 100 acres in the country.
So there you go – there’s the about! If you want to know more about a large family and all it’s quirkiness or about all the joys and frustrations of homeschooling or about homesteading and all the mistakes I’ve made or about our day to day antics and activities then you’re at the right website and we hope you stay!! Welcome!
“Everyone needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in … Where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul.” — John Muir
We exist as a hands-on classroom to instruct and motivate others toward a healthier, more independent lifestyle.
The Lazy B Farm was established in January, 2003 and we have been hard at work ever since! We’ve added an orchard, vegetable garden, numerous outbuildings for animals, beehives, lots and lots of flower beds and so much more. We’ve had a lot of fun creating new “spaces” on our land and learning constantly how to be better stewards of the land we live on and use.
We’ve had lots of our friends come to the farm and ask if we would ever consider giving classes, or provide “field trips” so others could see our homestead. After 6 years of working on this place and the encouragement of a dear friend to “just give it a try,” we decided to open our gates to others in January of 2009 with our first Chicken Workshop.
Our greatest desire and motivation is to help others in their quest for learning – providing a “hands-on” classroom. We want young and old to leave this place feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired to make efforts to be a little more independent in their lifestyle and food choices.
We welcome you to come by and see what hard work, sweat, and a lot of prayers have accomplished here at the Lazy B Farm!
